Wasps

Platoon is the only pest control company in the UK that specializes in relocating wasp nests. We have partnered with local farms to relocate as many nests as possible, allowing wasps to perform their natural role in pest control. Wasps prey on pests like caterpillars, aphids, and greenflies— insects that damage crops and reduce food yields. For years, farmers have been told that their land lacks enough wasps, leading to the use of pesticides to control these harmful insects. By relocating wasps to farms, we can help reduce the reliance on pesticides, which are known to be harmful to both the environment and human health. Improving farm habitats with wasps can significantly reduce pesticide use and promote healthier ecosystems.

While we strive to relocate as many wasp nests as possible, some nests—particularly those located within buildings—may need to be destroyed if they pose a risk to people.

In the UK, the main species of wasps are the Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris) and the German Wasp (Vespula germanica). These nests are typically found in soil banks, roof spaces, wall cavities, and trees. Constructed from chewed wood pulp, wasp nests can grow quite large, housing 3,000 to 5,000 wasps by late summer.
